Dear teachers,
This holiday season, we wanted to share some of our uplifting and joyful Storyworks 3 stories with you and your students. Our archives are packed with inspiring features that are perfect for teaching social-emotional skills, like self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills. Here are some beloved stories with an SEL focus that are sure to bring a smile to your students' faces:
· The Gift of the Magi – In this play adaptation of the classic O. Henry holiday tale, students will learn the true meaning of giving.
· Those Shoes – Jeremy learns to put the needs of a friend above his own in a heartwarming fiction story by Maribeth Boelts.
· Mango, Abuela, and Me – Mia discovers how to connect with her grandmother, despite a language barrier, in this realistic fiction story by Meg Medina.
· Toys or Treasures? – In these Paired Texts, students will learn about collectable toys and discover that happy memories are sometimes the most valuable treasure of all.
We hope these stories bring some joy to your classroom. From all of us here at Storyworks 3, we wish you a happy holiday season and a wonderful start to 2021!
Warmly,
The Storyworks 3 Editors
